Profile - Margaret Mead
Margaret Mead from Parish of Sorell
Working for the Leprosy Mission
Margaret Mead is a nurse who has just returned home to the Parish of Sorell after spending 12 days in NSW.
She has spent 15 years working with The Leprosy Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, returning only last year to Australia where she has been talking to various groups about her work.
She travelled from Taree to Nowra, with Ron Dawes the NSW director for TLM. The meetings ranged from short mission spots in church services to the Cullen address at the TLM State Conference.
Margaret told about the three-fold work of TLM: healing, prevention of disability, and socio-economic development for those affected by leprosy and the communities in which they live.
The Leprosy Mission works around the world, reaching out to people and communities affected by leprosy. All of the work is carried out in the name of, and showing the love of, Jesus Christ.
