Spot the ball!

On Sunday 6 April members of local churches joined with Fusion to provide a fun day for families at the Franklin FOCUS. Our intention was to develop relationships with families in our community by witnessing to them mainly through action - to show that as Christians we care about them and accept them unconditionally. It was a great opportunity for the church to be in the world.

Francis of Assisi and his disciples took the word of Christ literally. Their task was to preach, ‘using words if necessary,’ but declaring by word and action the love of God in Christ.

Activities included water volley ball, balloon sculpture, face painting, and water transfer races. The grand finale was a tug of war with an ignominious defeat of the adults by the children (assisted by a heavy scout master). Pride certainly came before a fall for the oldies!

We had many meaningful conversations with parents and children during the day. The organiser of the event commented that he had lost count of the number of positive comments about our activities. The Franklin postmistress wondered whether I was having more fun than the kids! God only knows what seeds were planted that day.

We thank God for Fusion, their staff and volunteers, and our Christian brothers and sisters in helping to build his Kingdom.

We are already planning another event at Christmas. You too could be part of the fun!

God bless you,

Ray Metcalfe
